Therefore, integrating the three specialized subjects of crime prevention, police intervention and security management, the Department of Security Management was set up and started to officially recruit students in 2007-08.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\nAmong all the Schools of Social Science in Taiwan, our university was the first to have a Security Management Department. In the first academic year, a class of 60 students enrolled, and then two class cohorts enrolled from 2008-09. Up to now, the number of undergraduate students in the department has already reached four hundred.\n<\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\nOur department was renamed the Department of Security Management and Community Affairs for the first time in the 2011-12 academic year and then renamed the Department of Security Management and Social Work for the second time in the 2014-15 academic year.\n<\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\nTo deepen the development of both security management and community affairs, and to pursue the prosperity of workplace organization and cultivate higher-level workers, a Master\u2019s Program and a Work-experience Master\u2019s Program, in 2013-14 and 2015-16, respectively, were authorized for establishment by the Ministry of Education, Taiwan.\n<\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\nIn recent years, the department has been increasingly pro-active to cultivate security management professionals. Not only we continue to teach students security management expertise and skills, but also emphasize a more complete professional education by renaming as Department of Criminal Justice in 2017-18. Thus, our department now has undergraduate and master\u2019s programs in Criminal Justice as well as work-experience masters\u2019 programs in Cross-Strait and Criminal Justice, granting Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees.\n<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-col e16622-12 mctq-8 mctq-9\"><div class=\"x-text e16622-13 mctq-f mctq-h\"><h5 style=\"background-color: #8b008b;color: white;text-align: center\">Missions \/ Goals \/   Objectives<\/h5>\n<img src=\"https:\/\/mcuhm.files.wordpress.com\/2023\/07\/key-2374435_1280.webp\">\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\nThe department's educational mission is to train expertise-based personnel for security management-related areas, to integrate criminal justice and security management theory and practice, to connect knowledge and ability to implement, as well as to combine learning and utilization of what is learned so that students are equipped with expertise, skills and international perspective. We focus on Four Goals\uff1a\n<\/p>\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\n(1) to teach security management and community affairs expertise;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\n(2) to cultivate communication, planning and coordination skills;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\n(3) to develop security management professionals with apt coping skills; and\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\n(4) to nurture students capacity for well-rounded development.\nThus, we integrate the knowledge and abilities in the three modules of Criminal Justice, Public Safety and Judicial Social Work to construct a comprehensive program so that our graduates fit the actual needs of the current security management industry.\n<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-row x-container max width e16622-14 mctq-1 mctq-2 mctq-6\"><div class=\"x-row-inner\"><div class=\"x-col e16622-15 mctq-8 mctq-9\"><div class=\"x-row e16622-16 mctq-1 mctq-4 mctq-5\"><div class=\"x-row-inner\"><div class=\"x-col e16622-17 mctq-8 mctq-9\"><div class=\"x-text e16622-18 mctq-f mctq-g\"><h5 style=\"background-color: #8b008b;color: white;text-align: center\">Features<\/h5>\n<p style=\"font-size:18px;text-align:justify\">\nIn line with the overall vision of our university, the department plans forward-looking short-range and long-term goals that guide cultivation of security management professionals.
