The first comprehensive book on the criminal justice system in Taiwan, Introduction to Criminal Justice, was officially published and launched on the eve of Police Day. This book is compiled by 20 scholars in the field of crime prevention and police administration from universities such as Ming Chuan, Central Police University, Chung Cheng University, and Taipei University. It is the first textbook in Taiwan to fully introduce the criminal justice system. Its publication will help facilitate communication and coordination among various departments within the criminal justice system, and also promote the integration of crime prevention and control groups.
The new book publication conference on “Introduction to Criminal Justice” jointly organized by the Department of Criminal Justice at Ming Chuan University, Central Police University, and Taiwan Police College was successfully held on June 14th at the Police College. The seminar host, Huang, Fu-Yuan Chair Professor and Dean of the School of Social Sciences, pointed out in his speech that the seminar was held at the Taiwan Police College to affirm its outstanding achievements in legal education and academic development; Tsai,Te-Hui Chair Professor, who previously served as the President of Central Police University, stated that the Central Police University and the Taiwan Police College bear the heavy responsibility of law enforcement training and are extremely important to the country, which cannot be replaced by other universities; Lawyer CHEN,SHOU-HUANG, who previously served as the Deputy Minister of Justice and was also one of the authors of this book, reminded scholars and classmates present that “being a good person is not enough to govern, and being a law-abiding person is not enough to act on one’s own.”.
The Introduction to Criminal Justice consists of five chapters: Police Administration, Victim Protection and Restorative Justice, Prosecutors and Courts, Corrections, and Returning to Society. It is a comprehensive criminal justice textbook in Taiwan, with teachers Tsai,Te-Hui, Chuen-Jim Sheu, Huang, Fu-Yuan, Chang, Kuang-Ming, and HUANG,CHIN-CHIU from the Department of Criminal Justice at Ming Chuan University serving as editors in chief and inviting scholars and experts from relevant fields to write articles. Director Chang, Kuang-Ming of the Department of Criminal Justice expressed his hope that the publication of this book can effectively enhance the professional quality of personnel in Courts, prosecutors office, prisons, and detention center in Taiwan.
