At about 7 pm on the 2nd, in Zhonghe, New Taipei City, he first hit a police patrol car that stopped at a red light in the opposite direction. After a police inquiry, the case was transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office for investigation in accordance with the Drug Hazard Prevention Ordinance.”
The police also found a number of level 1 and 2 drugs from the vehicle involved in the accident, including used bags of heroin residue and etomidate cartridges. It is not ruled out that the man in his 50s is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs, and tests are ongoing to clarify the case.
Wang Po-Chi, associate professor of the Department of Criminal Justice at Ming Chuan University, pointed out, “drug addicts may need some so-called rehabilitation or enhanced medical treatment. Can strict punishments be effective in deterring drug driving? This is worth exploring.”
