Teacher Wang Po-Chi was interviewed by CTWANT: Huang TZU-CHIAO appeared in court for 6 times “all dressed the same”, the criminology professor revealed his intention

Artist Huang TZU-CHIAO was sentenced to 8 months in prison and a fine of NT$100,000 by the Taipei District Court in the first instance for allegedly purchasing indecent videos of minors on the “Creative Private Room” forum. The second trial opened on the 26th, and the outside world is paying close attention to whether the court will uphold the original verdict or reduce the sentence, so that he will avoid jail. In addition, some netizens discovered that he wears the same dark blue shirt every time he appears in court, sparking heated discussions.

Huang TZU-CHIAO has gradually withdrawn from the entertainment industry since the MeToo incident broke out in 2023, but was later revealed to be a senior member of the pornographic website “Creative Private Room” and possesses a large number of sexual images of children. According to the court verdict, he illegally possessed 2,259 indecent image files, involving 47 victims, 35 of whom were identifiable and ranged in age from 10 to 17 years old. The court sentenced him to 8 months in prison and a fine of 100,000 yuan based on this incident.

Huang TZU-CHIAO was dissatisfied with the verdict and decided to appeal, trying to obtain a lighter sentence. If the second instance still upholds the sentence of more than 6 months without a fine, he will be required to serve his sentence in prison. However, if the court changes the sentence to less than 6 months and allows Yike to pay a fine, he will have a chance to avoid jail.

Recently, he was seen traveling with his family, which triggered criticism from netizens who believed that this action showed his lack of regret and even his intention to come back. His wife Meng Gengru posted a post on social media on March 9, publicly apologizing to the public and admitting that her past remarks were inappropriate and sincerely apologized for this.

In addition to the possession of indecent images case, Huang TZU-CHIAO has also been accused of sexual harassment and sexual assault cases in the past, including accusations from Zofia, Xiao Fang (pseudonym) and Ms. K. However, after investigation by the Taipei District Prosecutor’s Office, both cases were dismissed without prosecution due to insufficient evidence or a settlement reached between the two parties. Among them, Ms. K requested reconsideration of the decision not to file a complaint, but the High Prosecutor’s Office ultimately upheld the original decision.

Although he was exempted from criminal liability in sexual harassment and assault cases, Huang TZU-CHIAO still faces legal sanctions for possessing 2,259 illegal videos. The outside world is paying attention to whether the second instance will uphold the original verdict or make a reduction in sentence.

Because Huang TZU-CHIAO wore the same dark blue shirt in six court appearances, he was similar to the suspect surnamed Xia in the “500 Million High School Student” case, who also wore the same light blue striped POLO shirt in five court appearances. This move triggered heated discussions, and netizens left messages: “I want to create a repentant image,” “I emphasize that I am innocent,” and “I suspect that I want to pretend to be poor.”

In this regard, according to a report by China Times News Network, Wang Po-Chi, associate professor of the Department of Criminal Justice at Ming Chuan University, speculated that this may be Huang Zijiao’s “lucky clothes” or the color is his “lucky color”, hoping to bring good results. However, he emphasized that Huang TZU-CHIAO’s behavior was not just a moral issue, but also involved legal responsibility. No matter how lucky he was, it would be difficult to restore his reputation.
