Wang Po-Chi (Associate Professor, the Department of Criminal Justice at Ming Chuan University) led 70 students to visit the Guishan Police Station yesterday. Through the display of police equipment and a crime prevention campaign with prizes, the students gained an in-depth understanding of police work practices and strengthened their awareness of fraud prevention, drug control, traffic safety, integrity, and digital sexual violence. Both teachers and students gained a lot and achieved remarkable results.
In order to allow students to gain a deeper understanding of the daily routine and challenges of police work, the Guishan Police Station has specially planned a series of rich experience and promotional activities. First, senior police officers introduced police equipment, including stun guns, radios, batons, pepper spray, bulletproof vests and arm shields. Through actual demonstrations and interactive explanations, students were able to experience up close the police’s response skills and professional training at the scene of duty. The students not only had the chance to operate the equipment themselves, but also asked questions enthusiastically, creating a lively atmosphere.
Crime prevention education was conducted in a lively and interesting quiz format with prizes, focusing on topics such as anti-fraud, anti-drug, and anti-theft, allowing students to gain practical knowledge in a relaxed interactive environment. The traffic safety education session featured actual traffic accident videos showing the moment of the accident, and in-depth analysis of common causes of accidents, such as speeding, failure to give way to pedestrians, and illegal turns, to remind everyone to abide by traffic rules during daily driving. Teachers and students exclaimed in amazement while watching the video, saying “It’s amazing!” and “I must ride slowly in the future!”, strengthening their awareness of defensive driving.
The issue of digital sexual violence calls on students to protect personal privacy and establish healthy and safe concepts in Internet use; the anti-corruption advocacy emphasizes the importance of administrative neutrality, administrative transparency, anti-corruption and clean government. The entire event was rich in content and fast-paced. The students said they had gained a lot and had a new understanding and respect for police work.
CHANG,HAO-CHIUNG ,chief of the Guishan Police Station, expressed his gratitude to Wang Po-Chi ,Associate Professor, the Department of Criminal Justice for leading the visit. This activity not only allowed students to better understand police work, but also effectively enhanced the younger generation’s concept of the rule of law and self-protection awareness. He hoped that police-civilian cooperation would continue to be promoted in the future to jointly build a safe society.
