With frequent cases of accidents caused by drug driving, the Executive Yuan today (4th) launched amendments to strengthen criminal liability and fines. Those who drive under the influence of drugs while riding a motorcycle or driving a car will be fined NT$90,000 or NT$120,000. The fine for refusing to take a test for the first time has also been increased from NT$180,000 to NT$270,000. In addition, passengers in the same vehicle will be subject to a joint penalty of NT$15,000, similar to drunk driving. Regardless of who owns the vehicle, it will be confiscated if someone is driving under the influence of drugs.
