Ming Chuan University boasts 12 professors among the world’s top 2% of scientists, aligning its research strength with AI talent cultivation.

Stanford University and Elsevier released their 2026 “Top 2% of Scientists Globally” list on October 7th. Ming Chuan University has a record number of professors on the list, spanning fields such as information and communication, AI, image processing, social sciences, education, tourism and leisure, and e-commerce. This demonstrates the university’s interdisciplinary research capabilities and reflects its continued efforts in deepening AI research, teaching, and talent cultivation in recent years.

The list is led by President Hsuan-Shih Lee and includes Professor Chia-Wen Tsai (Chair Professor), Department of Information Management; Professor Fu-Chien Chiu and Assistant Professor Hung-Chun Chien (Semiconductor Program); Professor Peng-Yeng Yin (International College); Professor Sheng-Hsiung Tsaur (Department of Tourism); Professor Chih-Hsing Liu (Department of Leisure and Recreation); Professor Chang Chun-Ming and Associate Professor Yen, Chia-Hui (Department of International Business); and Professors Shay, Shyong Jian, Su,Min-Yang ,and Yen,Show-Jane(Department of Computer Science).

Nine professors are included in the “Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking,” and six are included in the “2026 Annual Scientific Impact Ranking.” President Lee Hsuan-shih was selected for both lists, having long been deeply involved in port and shipping management, big data analytics, and decision science. In recent years, he has extended his expertise to higher education governance and AI talent cultivation. Chair Professor Tsai Chia-wen continues to dedicate himself to research in AI, big data, blockchain business, and knowledge management. From academic research to talent cultivation, AI is gradually becoming a crucial development direction for Ming Chuan University, connecting scientific research, teaching, and industrial applications. To further transform research capabilities into students’ learning advantages, Ming Chuan has simultaneously established the “NVIDIA AI Lab,” collaborating with NVIDIA and Dell to create a high-level AI practical environment. This supports model testing, generative AI creation, data analysis, and project-based learning, allowing students to use an industry-grade AI computing environment on campus, extending classroom learning to practical applications.

In talent cultivation, Ming Chuan uses the “Ten-Force Education” approach to connect courses, practical training, competitions, and interdisciplinary learning. This guides students from different professional fields to effectively utilize AI tools, understand interdisciplinary needs, and cultivate interdisciplinary capabilities that allow them to “understand AI in social sciences and humanities in STEM fields.” The professor’s research findings and the AI teaching environment support each other, allowing the research energy to be more directly applied to students’ learning and future career development.
