Through the competition process, it enhances the understanding and practical application of global sustainable development among young people, cultivates innovative thinking patterns, emphasizes sustainable creative actions brought about by digital technology transformation, and interpersonal communication, coordination and cooperation capabilities. This year’s second competition, a total of 43 proposals from high schools and colleges across the country participated in the preliminary round, including five student teams from Songshan Industrial and Agricultural University, Ming Chuan, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Providence University, entered the finals.
Ming Chuan Crime Prevention Department students reported that they would serve the residents of Ziqiang Village, Taoyuan District, Taoyuan City, starting from assessing community capabilities to visiting the community, understanding the operation of the community and the services provided by the village chief’s office, sorting out the existing resources of Ziqiang Village, and found that Ziqiang Village has problems such as an aging society and health services. Based on the fact that Taiwan is about to enter a super-aging society, they designed a community program “Medical Service YOUTH Ken” to connect websites through LINE, FB, etc. to reduce generational barriers and increase the accessibility of medical services, reduce medical transportation costs and carbon footprints in medically disadvantaged areas, and jointly improve the standards of healthy living quality to meet SDGs3 health and well-being.
The participating students said that this was an important journey that was worth learning. Under the guidance of Teacher Shih-Mei, they were able to move from classroom learning to caring for the sustainable environment of the community around the university, unleash their creativity and win awards, which added important color to university life. They are grateful to Ming Chuan University for giving the students the opportunity to participate in the competition on public leave and to receive recognition from the judges during the finals. In addition, they saw that the judges of the sustainability finals were all outstanding women who performed outstandingly in artificial intelligence, corporate management and sustainable project promotion, which made the students more determined to have future goals!
